Resumen:
We study weighted modular inequalities for a generalized maximaloperator associated to a Young function in the context of spacesof homogeneous type. We prove the equivalence between theseinequalities and a Dini-type condition, which involves thefunction associated to the operator and the functions related tothe modular estimates. Particularly we obtain a generalization ofa result of C. Perez and R. Wheeden (cite{PW}). In addition weprove a characterization of the $A_{1}$-Muckenhoupt class, thatextends and improves the corresponding results proved by H. Kita(cite{K3}cite{K2}).
