Resumen:
The hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) rate on Cu, Ag and Au appears to be very sensitive to the surface state of the electrode. The HER rate on Au and Cu can be considerably enhanced by complex potential perturbations such as those used to produce the potentiodynamic ageing of anodic films. Recently we have reported that the HER rate on silver as well as the oxide formation i-E profile can be considerably modified by applying triangular potential perturbation signals in the potential range covering from the Hz evolution region to the silver oxide layer formation-education. The main change produced by the potential cycling being a continuous increase of the HER rate.
