Resumen:
Expeimental critical velocities for pushing are compared with predictions in water and organic materials. The results show large scatter, particularly in organic materials. The predictions from theory is in better agreement with data obtained in water and span two orders of magnitude for a given radius. Yhe origin of the driving force for pushing is also presented and discussed in relation with the theories. In the case of metallic alloys and non planar solidification interfaces other mechanisms for particle segregation are discussed and compared with observations in Lead alloys, Metal Matrix Composites and superalloys. The need for a dynamic model is suggested.
