Resumen:
Pecheny, M. y Manzelli, H., 2003. ?HIV Prevention among Latin American MSM?, Sexual Health Exchange, 2003(1),  KIT (Koninklijk Instituut voor de Tropen, Netherlands) y SAfAIDS (Southern Africa HIV and AIDS Information Dissemination Service, Zimbabwe). Págs: 9-10. ISSN: 1388-3046. HIV transmission among men who have sex with men (MSM) is closely linked to the particular characteristics of their sexual practices and the many different circumstances determining those practices. Therefore, HIV prevention among MSM requires programmes tailored to their specific risks and needs. Not all men who see themselves as homosexual are at risk of contracting HIV. Similarly, not all men who are at risk of contracting HIV through sex with other men consider themselves homosexual. In some cultures, for example, the man who plays the active role is not considered homosexual. The concept of ?men who have sex with men´ tries to accommodate these different sexual identities, since it is unprotected sex that carries a risk of HIV infection, not one´s self-acknowledged sexual identity.
