Resumen:
SUMMARY The present work report the characterization of the fungi Ascosphaera apis (Maasen ex Clausen), coming from 28 outbreaks of the illness located in hives of four counties of the República Argentina. Different culture media of conservation of strains esporulated and non-esporulated of the pathogenic fungi were evaluated. The esporulated strains conserved their viability for the term of one year in glycerol 20% at 20EC. The isolations non-esporulated survived without losing viability during 3 months in Saboureaud at 4EC. The identification of the isolations of the fungi was based in culture characteristic, morfobiometric, enzymatic activity and maiting test with DSMZ 3116 (plus) and DSMZ 3117 (minus). The morfobiometric study was made by optic microscopy and the mensuration of the dimensions of the nutriocists, esporocists and ascospors. The mean value and standard deviation of each one of the reproductive structures of the pathogenic coincide with the result obtained by other authors for A. apis. On the other hand four enzymatic activities were determined by qualitative methods. 100% of the isolations of the fungi were positive to the catalytic, phosphates, gelatinize and amiloliticic activity. According to the studied classification approaches we can conclude that the characterized strains belong to the species Ascosphaera apis.
