Resumen:
Medicinal plant use in the Mapuche community of Painefilúwas compared utilizing two ethnobotanical methodologies:individual interviews and participatory workshops. 67% of thepopulation was interviewed, recording 42 medicinal species.Plants most frequently cited were: ajenjo (Artemisiaabsinthium), nalca (Gunnera tinctoria), ñanculahuén (Valerianacarnosa) and carqueja (Baccharis trimera). In bothmethodologies, plant citation resembled in 41 %. The effectsmost frequently reported in the interviews were: digestive(39%), analgesic (20%) and cultural syndromes (8%); thislatter was the most relevant in the participatory workshop(30%). This research highlights the complementation ofdifferent methodologies in this type of ethnobotanical study.
