Resumen:
New acritarch and graptolite
data from the lower to middle Arenig
Acoite Formation enable refinement of the biostratigraphic scheme established
for the Santa Victoria area of the Eastern Cordillera, northwestern Argentina. The Acoite Formation comprises a thick, shallowing-upward, inner-shelf
succession, related to a storm-dominated deltaic system. The
Acoite Formation has yielded an abundant macrofauna, mainly composed of
trilobites and graptolites. Palynological assemblages have also been recorded. New data are integrated to a biostratigraphic scheme recently established, involving acritarchs,
graptolites and trilobites.
