A screeningmethodforthesoilanalysisof15EnvironmentalProtectionAgency-polycyclicaromatichydrocarbons(EPA-PAHs)isreported.Thenewmethodisbasedonthecollectionof4.2Kfluorescencetime-resolvedexcitation?emissioncubes(TREECs)vialaser-excitedtime-resolvedShpol?skiispectro-scopy.4.2KfluorescenceTREECsresultfromthesuperpositionoffluorescencetime-resolvedexcitationemissionmatricesrecordedatdifferenttimewindowsfromthelaserexcitationpulse.Potentialinterferencefromunknownsampleconcomitantsishandledbyprocessingthefour-way4.2KfluorescenceTREECdataarrayswitheitherparallelfactoranalysis(PARAFAC)orunfoldedpartialleast-squares/residual-trilinearization(U-PLS/RTL).Thesensitivityofthetwoapproachesmakespossi-ble todeterminePAHsatthengg1 to pgg1 concentrationlevelwithnoneedforsamplepre-concentration.Itsselectivityeliminatessampleclean-upstepsandchromatographicseparation.ThesefeaturesreducePAHloss,analysistimeandcost.Themethodisenvironmentallyfriendlyasthecompletescreeningofthe15EPA-PAHstakesonly250 mL oforganicsolventpersample.
