Resumen:
A taxonomic
revision of Cheilanthes from South America
and a phylogenetic analysis of the genus, based in morphological and molecular
data, including a representative amount of species from South Cone, are
presented. In the phylogenetic study, the polyphyly of Cheilanthes was
corrobrated and new groups for South American species were proposed. The
taxonomic treatment included diagnostic descriptions and a key to determinate
44 species. Two new combinations, Cheilanthes
solitaria (R. M. Tryon) Ponce
and Adiantopsis flexuosa (Kunze) Ponce & Scataglini, were established;
likewise C. regularis Kunze ex Mett. was recognized within Adiantopsis.
Also identity of unclear taxa
was resolved and updated synonyms were given, performing lectotypifications in Notholaenarufa var. minor C. Presl; Notholaena rufa var. major C. Presl; Cheilanthes fraseri Mett. ex Kuhn; Acrostichum glaucum Cav.; Cheilanthes hieronymi Herter; Cheilanthes marginata var. gracilis Hieron.; Cheilanthes thellungii Herter; Cheilanthes pohliana
Kunze ex Mett. and Cheilanthes flexuosa Kunze.
