This paper provides, for the first time, accurate price data for the city of Buenos Aires in the 18th century. The paper analyzes the evolution of prices in Buenos Aires city by comparing the price of local and imported products. The closing section of the present paper includes a general price index for the 18th century, presenting prices trends in the long term. This new information is also intended to serve as useful material for future comparative research on Colonial Economic History.
