Resumen:
Abstract               Systematic studies of the photo-Fries rearrangement of 2-alkyl- and 2-arylsulfonyloxycarbazoles were performed. The wavelength, the solvent, the atmosphere and photosensitization effects on the photochemical reaction have been studied. The photo Fries rearrangement in preparative scale, as an efficient tool for the introduction of a sulfur functional group in polycyclic aromatic compounds, is described.
