Itis not infrequently claimed that aesthetic discourse (discourse concerning whatis beautiful and ugly, but also what is sombre, garish, or unbalanced) may beapt for a truth-relativist semantic approach. Extant proposals, however, have been cursorilyadvanced under the unexamined assumption that it is possible tostraightforwardly apply the assessment-sensitive semantic account of predicatesof personal taste, to aesthetic predicates ingeneral. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the prospects for an aestheticallyinformed assessment-sensitive semantic account of aesthetic predicates.
