Resumen:
Valdesia del Río, 1985 (type species Valdesia valdesiensisdel Río, 1985, by original designation) was originallyintroduced to include three late Miocene fossilgastropod species from Argentina (Puerto MadrynFormation), then thought to correspond to Architectonicidaebut later shown to belong in Trochidae(Martínez et al., 1998). However, there exists a seniorhomonym, Valdesia Maury, 1981 (type species Valdesiasimplex Maury, 1981, by original designation), a genusof extant camel spiders (Solifugae) of the familyDaesiidae. Both were named after Valdés Peninsula inChubut, Argentina.
