Resumen:
We present preliminary results of a project of photometric monitoring of selected fields in southern open clusters, aimed at searching for variable stars. The final goal is to characterize the binary population of open clusters of different ages, as well as to study the presence of various intrinsic variables, contributing to the comprehension of their evolution. The photometric observations are being obtained with the HSH telescope of CASLEO and a CCD camera of 512x512 pixels. During 2006 ten open clusters have been observed repeatedly and the first results indicate that a precision of 0.006 mags is typically attained with exposures of 1 minute for stars brighter than V=11.
