Resumen:
Carbazole is a heterocyclic motif that can be found in adiverse array of natural and non-natural products displaying a widerange of biological and physiological properties. Furthermore, thisheterocycle is part of electronic materials like photoconductingpolymers and organic optoelectronic materials owing to their excellentphotophysical characteristics. Consequently, the development ofsynthetic strategies for carbazole scaffolds holds potentialsignificance in biological and material fields. In this regard, a varietyof preparation methods has been developed exploiting their efficientand distinct formation of new C-C and C-heteroatom bonds employingmild conditions and enabling broad substrate diversity and functionalgroup tolerance. Therefore, this review focus on the synthesis of a setof carbazole derivatives describing a variety of methodologies thatinvolve direct irradiation, photosensitization, photoredox,electrochemical and thermal cyclization reactions.
