Resumen:
In this Letter, we report the outcomes of the first edition of the ‘Marine Biotechnologyand Aquaculture for Sustainable Development’ training that took place in August 2022in Mar del Plata, Argentina. We learned about the current fishery and aquacultureproduction in South America, with emphasis to the recent program ‘Pampa Azul’released by the Argentinean authorities. Lectures of recent studies that contributed tothe Argentine marine biotechnology and the prospects of fishery and aquaculturetechnology in the Amazon region were given to the participants. The importance ofcircular bioeconomy within the context of fishery and aquaculture was highlighted indetail via seminary discussions. At the end of the Letter, participants gave a glimpseinto the lessons learned from the training, illustrating that interdisciplinarycommunication and face-to-face networking are essential attributes to expandcollaborative research in the South American countries.
