Resumen:
The relationship between human biology and behavior has been broadly studied. In this paper we focus on the adaptational role that human behavior has regarding environment from a cognitive anthropological perspective. Working with neurologically ill people we show how the environment (the researcher or any other person) can serve as an “external frontal lobe” to learn how to solve a problem.  Our results are in accordance with the expanded mind/cognition thesis, the Vygotskian point of view and the social learning theory, and we propose to apply the cognitive reserve hypothesis as well. These results encourage research on this issue to help people to improve their quality of life.
