Resumen:
The sedimentary infill of the Tandilia Basin reveals at least four different stages of depositionduring the Neoproterozoic. The unconformity-related paleokarst of the upper Villa MónicaFormation (VMF), the Piedra Amarilla Surface, is considered the fingerprint in this basin of thetransition from the break-up of Rodinia to SW Gondwana configuration (~720 to 600 Ma). Theanalysis in detail of the upper section of the VMF, first stage of infill recorded in the basin, allowsto differentiate two karstic events imprinted on top of this dolostone section represented regionallyin the Tandilia System. This unit rich stromatolite morphologies constitutes a post-Sturtian cap-dolostone deposited under typical seawater Cryogenian conditions. The genesis of the older karst, hypokarst, is here indicated as hydrothermal with the developmentof a Mn-oxides dikes associated to intense silicification and brecciation of the host dolostones. The younger karstic event developed over the post uplifted unit reveals intense weathering relatedto subaerial exposure with the generation of an irregular surface conforming an epikarst.
