Resumen:
Supermartensitic stainless steels displays a better combination of weldability, toughness and corrosion resistance than conventional martensitic and duplex stainless steels. Nevertheless, post weld heat treatments are required to control the microstructure. A tempered martensite microstructure with a high content of austenite reversed improves the properties of weld deposits. In the present work, the effect of the heating rate on the transformation kinetics of martensite into austenite in supermartensitic stainless steel weld deposit was studied by dilatometry measurements at 1, 10, and 100 °C/s. On one hand, the critical transformation temperatures were modeled as a function of the heating rate. The increase of the heating rate increases critical temperatures and reduces the range of the transformation. On the other hand, the austenitic transformation kinetics was modeled by a sigmoidal equation. The maximum transformation rate was reached for the slowest heating rate. However, the increase of the heating rate increased the average transformation rate, reducing the range of the transformation.
