Resumen:
The colonization of America by Drosophila subobscura can be considered a natural experiment with two replicates (North and South America) and offers a great opportunity to study several evolutionary phenomena. This process has been analyzed from its early stages (Brncic et al. 1981) and some valuable information has been obtained. For instance, the magnitude of the founding event has been estimated using different genetic markers, the non-independence of both colonizations (North and South America) has been established and subsequent evolution of American colonizing populations has been examined (for a revision see Balanyà et al. 2003, 2006; Mestres et al. 2005).
