Resumen:
A series of conjugation extended push-pull derivatives of 4,4?-spirobi[cyclopenta[2,1-b: 3,4-b?]dithiophene] were synthesizedand fully characterized, in which each perpendicularly alignedcyclopenta[2,1-b: 3,4-b?]dithiophene features a pendant dicyanovinyleneas an electron acceptor and a thiophene as anelectron donor. The electrochemical and photophysical propertiesof the new molecules, which differ from each other for thepresence and/or location of an additional n-hexyl chain on thependant thiophene unit, were investigated, as well as theirsusceptibility to electrochemical polymerization. The substitutionarrangement of the monomers was found to exertsignificant influence on the outcome of the electropolymerizationprocess and on the optoelectronic properties and morphologicalfilm characteristics of the new regioregular materialsobtained.
