Resumen:
A summary of the present state of knowledge of the coipos
(Rodentia, Caviomorpha, Myocastoridae) coming from the Mesopotamian (= Conglomerado osífero, Late
Miocene; Ituzaingó Fn.) at Entre Ríos Province, Argentina, is given. The nominal species of all known
Mesopotamian myocastorids are listed. The presence of Myocastor is confirmed at the Mesopotamian,
becoming the first record for the family (together with those taxa from the ?Late Miocene Puelchan) and the
oldest genus of a living caviomorph rodent
