Resumen:
The Argentine agricultural sector is a relevantworldwide commodity producer, being the main exporter in thecountry. Conventional crop management systems lead toinefficient time and costs. In Argentina, the Ministry ofAgriculture, Livestock and Fisheries is the main entity thatcollects and reports productive data, a laborious task with highcosts, slow and error-prone. Technological improvement andcompetitiveness of the sector require a new perspective in thecurrent data management, towards digital transformation, achieving more efficiently the capabilities of the agriculturalsector. The aim of this article is to introduce an agricultural datamanagement platform, which includes several information-basedtechnologies for enhancing the management of agro-productiveestablishments data. This system has great potential in datacollecting, integration and analytics from diverse sources, withthe goal of providing users with consistent and precise access anddelivery of relevant data in support of decision making, and tomeet the information requirements of all processes. The system iscurrently in use in an extensive region of the Southwest of theBuenos Aires Province and East of the La Pampa Province, which are under the logistic influence of the Bahía Blanca Port. The platform offers unified access to datasets and satelliteimagery, automates the most relevant users processes such asfield information upload (i.e., during sowing and harvestingseasons), processing and image visualization. Furthermore, thesystem includes functionalities such as remote monitoring, toolsfor crop estimation, and direct access to weather records andforecasts from the National Weather Service (SMN). Thisdevelopment represents a strategic development which goesbeyond the purely technological aspects. It is an open innovationtool, promoting the creation of value, aiming at the digitaltransformation of the agricultural productive system.
