Resumen:
Wastewater produced by textiles industries are one of the effluents most difficult to treat dueto their great volume, toxicity and variable composition. In this work, a comprehensive study onthe degradation of a pure textile effluent by two native bacterial consortia was carried out. Theconsortia were pre-enriched in Luria Bertani or Glucose-Potato media and named LBC and GPC,respectively. The study ranges from consortia composition, structure and dynamic to effluentbiodegradation and toxicity analysis. Both bacterial communities degrade textile wastewaterwithout pre-treatment and without the addition of nutritional sources, reducing TOC, COD and pH. One consortium was more efficient to achieve effluent decolorization and reduction of COD,while the other one showed a better performance to reduce toxicity. Diversity analysis of bothcommunities showed that there wasn?t a marked loss of diversity during degradation kinetics.Relative abundance of Gammaproteobacteria increased and within this group, Aeromonadal,Enterobacterial and Pseudomonadal were the main represented orders. Biodegradation ability of isolated strains showed that none of them was able to degrade textile effluent independently. Toxicity assays showed the importance to carry out these tests to select appropriately the final destination of the treated wastewater.
