Resumen:
The unusual occurrence of the commonly Indo-west Pacific pufferfish Arothronfirmamentum was reported for the first time off Mar del Plata, Argentina at a depth of ca. 45 m. As far aswe know, the species has not been previously reported in American Atlantic waters. Some morphologicaland biological characteristics are given for the two specimens caught. A hypothesis of trans-oceanicmigration from the eastern South Atlantic by means of marine Currents is discussed
