Resumen:
Natural populations of T. cruzi have been classified into six phylogenetic lineages or discrete typing units, T. cruzi I, IIa, IIb, IIc, IId, and IIe, believed to play a role in tissue tropism and disease pathogenesis. The impact of HIV infection in the T. cruzi genetic diversity in coinfected patients is a scarcely explored field of parasitology.
