The SuRfAce processes, Tectonics and Georesources: The Andean foreland basin of Argentina, StRATEGy (STRATEGY Project) research consortium is the result of collaboration between Argentina and Germany. It was renewed in 2019 for a further four-year period.

It encompasses various geology research groups from CONICET centers and the University of Potsdam.

The consortium’s main focus is on human resources training, within the framework of which doctoral fellows from both countries carry out their research theses.

It consists of 10 nodes led by CONICET researchers.

The Global Research Council is a virtual organization composed of the heads of research councils and science and engineering funding agencies from around the world, dedicated to promoting the exchange of data and best practices for high-quality collaboration among funding agencies globally.

CONICET participates in and organizes the Annual and Regional Meetings promoted by the Global Research Council, and representatives of the Agency perform functions within this multilateral platform:

The Pierre Auger Observatory, located in the province of Mendoza, measures the particle showers that occur each time a cosmic ray collides with molecules in the upper atmosphere. Its objective is to identify cosmic rays and take another step forward in understanding our universe. Around 400 scientists from 90 institutions in 18 countries are participating. The participating countries are: Germany, Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, Slovenia, Spain, the United States, France, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Peru, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, and Romania.

The Buenos Aires Institute for Biomedical Research – CONICET – Partner Institute of the Max Planck Society (IBioBA-CONICET-MPSP), located in the Buenos Aires Science and Technology Park, has the mission of conducting cutting-edge research to gain new insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying relevant human diseases and to promote the translation of this knowledge into new individualized therapies. The Institute’s purpose is to expand the frontiers of knowledge, contribute to the education and training of young scientists of excellence, complement the scientific research of CONICET and the Max Planck Institutes, and strengthen scientific collaboration between Argentina and Germany.

Is a joint initiative of the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) of Argentina and the Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy (Bundesamt für Kartographie und Geodäsie – BKG) of Germany. Through this joint effort, both countries make their own the recommendation promulgated by the United Nations in 2015, urging nations to join efforts to improve the Global Geodetic Reference Frame (GGRF).

AGGO is one of the most complete geodetic observatories in the world and its strategic location in the Southern Hemisphere makes it a key part of the Global Geodetic Observing System (GGOS) of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG).

The GGRF is the foundation that supports spatial data infrastructures, which today constitute an essential input for sustainable development (UN-GGIM, UN-GGIM-A and IDERA). At the global scale, AGGO contributes to the International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF), which is the practical realization of the GGRF. At the regional and national scales, it does the same with the Geocentric Reference System for the Americas (SIRGAS) and with the Argentine Geodetic Positions (POSGAR).

QUBIC (Q-U Bolometric Interferometer for Cosmology) is an international experimental cosmology project that aims to measure the B-mode polarization of the microwave background radiation (CMB, for Cosmic Microwave Background), in order to discover what happened in the first moments after the birth of the Universe. The B-mode polarization would be related to primordial gravitational waves, predicted by the inflationary theory, a modification of the Big Bang theory, which predicts an exponential expansion in the first moments of the Universe’s life.

The project is carried out by an international collaboration involving institutions from France, Italy, United Kingdom, Ireland, United States and Argentina. Our country was chosen to host the first instrument, which is located in Alto Chorrillos, Salta Province, at 4,900 meters above sea level – site that also houses the Argentine-Brazilian radio telescope LLAMA (Large Latin American Millimeter Array). In this way, the Argentine Northwest will become a center of scientific attraction at national, regional and global level.

IFAECI (Instituto Franco-Argentino sobre Estudios de Clima y sus Impactos – Instituto Argentino Francés para el Estudio del Clima y sus Impactos) is an international research laboratory, located in Buenos Aires, Argentina, jointly sponsored by the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD) of France, the National Council for Scientific and Technological Research of Argentina (CONICET) and the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). ) and the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD) of France, and the Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Tecnológicas de Argentina (CONICET) and the Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA) of Argentina. IFAECI was created on January 1, 2010, and renewed twice, in 2014 and 2019. Currently Dr. Claudia Simionato is the Director.

IFAECI was implemented to strengthen France-Argentina scientific collaboration on a research agenda aimed at better understanding, simulating and predicting climate variability and change, as well as its impacts on southern South America and the surrounding oceans.

IFAECI’s main scientific objective includes climate modeling, articulating the global and regional scales, a topic highly relevant to Argentina’s needs.

Created with the aim of addressing technological changes and innovation strategies and promoting the economic, industrial, technological, social and environmental development of both countries.

The center is coordinated on the Chinese side by the Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development (CASTED) – MOST.

Joint Center through which common topics of potential collaboration are established between both countries in different scientific areas: Astronomy, Biomedicine, Environmental Sciences, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, and Polar Studies.

Created between CONICET and Shanghai University, based on the collaboration and scientific cooperation activities developed between CEIL and the Center for Global Studies (CGS), this Center on Globalization and Society (CIMI-GyS)The main research areas of CIMI are: Cultural and religious issues; Labor, labor relations and trade unionism; International economic and political relations; Population, labor and food in rural areas; Local governance at the municipal level and local governance at the municipal level.

The project includes the construction, installation and operation of CART, a 40-meter diameter radio telescope in the Province of San Juan to be operated jointly with the VLBI network installed in China. The Chinese counterpart is the National Astronomical Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (NAOC); and on the Argentine side, the National University of San Juan; the Government of the Province of San Juan, and CONICET.
