CONICET researcher represented Argentina at the Science 20 in Tokio
Jorge Marcovecchio was appointed by National Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences to participate in the 3rd meeting of S20 group.
The topic covered at the conference and the previous meetings was Threatson Marine Ecosystem and Conservation of Marine Environment. The resulting document of the agreement was submitted to Japan’s Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, who would present it at the G20 Summit to consider and implement the recommended actions.
Marcovecchio, PhD, is a CONICET senior researcher who leads the Chemical Oceanography Area of the Argentine Institute of Oceanography (IADO, CONICET-UNS). He is a “Corresponding Academician” [Académico Correspondiente] of the National Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences in Bahía Blanca. Besides, his long research career on the analysis of oceans covers several countries but particularly the Argentine Sea, where he conducted most of his scientific production. His experience and background made him an expert in our country and the region. His participation in the Tokio S20 not only provided the point of view of Argentine scientists on the subject, but also new approaches and tendencies that will be developed in the following years.
