Resumen:
Hollow and solid cylindrical nanometric structures of mixed valent manganese oxide-based compounds wereobtainedby wetting sacrificial porous substrates. Plastic templates with pores ranging 0.05?1 mm were employed; a twostagethermal process was performedto obtain La0.325Pr0.300Ca0.375MnO3 or La2/3Sr1/3MnO3. Polycrystalline selfstandingtubes were obtained for pore size higher than 0.2 mm, while wires were obtainedfor diameters below 0.1 mm.We discuss the role of the template pore size in determining the synthesis route, the formation of different intermediatecompounds, and different morphologies.r 2004 Elsevier B.V.
