Resumen:
The layout and critical design variables optimization have historically been made at different stages of the plant design, thus unlinking their mutual influence. In this work, a methodology is presented making explicit and simultaneously solving the trade-off among them. In this work it is successfully optimized the layout of an oil extraction plant and the design of the associated hexane tank farm.Correlations are developed by parametrically simulating different accidental events in ALOHA.Considering a set of predefined tank farm configurations; the optimal one is determined simultaneously with the total optimal plant layout in order to limit the risk to an adequate level. Optimization is performed by implementing a MILP model in GAMS. A sequential strategy is used to handle a high number of units. The application of this methodology yielded economically satisfactory results associated with a predefined tolerable risk level.
