Synthesis route for obtaining manganese oxide-based nanostructures A.G. Leyva, P. Stoliar, M. Rosenbusch, P. Levy, J. Curiale, H. Troiani, R.D. Sanchez Hollow and solid cylindrical nanometric structures of mixed valent manganese oxide-based compounds were obtained by wetting sacri.cial porous substrates. Plastic templates with pores ranging 0.05–1 mm were employed; a twostage thermal process was performed to obtain La0.325Pr0.300Ca0.375MnO3 or La2/3Sr1/3MnO3. Polycrystalline selfstanding tubes were obtained for pore size higher than 0.2 mm, while wires were obtained for diameters below 0.1 mm. We discuss the role of the template pore size in determining the synthesis route, the formation of different intermediate compounds, and different morphologies. 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
