Resumen:
The implementation of molecular data for the analysis of nemertean diversity has unraveled the taxonomic status of several species and many higher taxa within the group. However, a large proportion of novel putative species are being discovered and have not yet been placed in a phylogenetic framework. In this study, we used mitochondrial COI gene as molecular marker to investigate the diversity of nemerteans from a marine Sub-Antarctic environment.Species delimitation (ABGD, PTP and bPTP) based on neighbor joining trees, as well as and maximum likelihood trees were analyzed. ABGDshowed a clear barcoding gap (6 to 10%) and the presence of 15different putative nemertean species in the dataset of 54 COI sequences from the Marine Protected Area “Namuncurá - BurdwoodBank” (MPA-BB), expanding the known biodiversity for theSub-Antarctic region. Ten monostiliferan and five heteronemerteandifferent species were found. We discuss in detail the relationship of Nipponnemertessp.and Parborlasia corrugatus groups with respect to the other nemertean sequences available in the dataset. Our results also confirm the presence of two P. corrugatus cryptic species in the Antarctic and Sub-Antarctic region. This work also highlights the importance of the MPA-BB as a biodiversity hotspot in the South-West Atlantic and provide a reference data for the Phylum Nemertea in the Southwestern Atlantic Ocean.p { color: #000000; line-height: 115%; text-align: left; orphans: 2; widows: 2; margin-bottom: 0.1in; direction: ltr; background: transparent }p.western { font-family: "Calibri", serif; font-size: 11pt; so-language: en-US }p.cjk { font-family: "Calibri"; font-size: 11pt; so-language: es-AR }p.ctl { font-family: "Calibri"; font-size: 11pt; so-language: ar-SA }a:link { color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline }
