Resumen:
Oxidative stress plays a pivotal role in ocular diseases. Antioxidants are crucial agents as prophylactic forms; however, considering its lability, nanotechnology becomes an option to enhance its protection, stability, bioavailability, and therapeutic efficacy. Here, we developed and characterized nanogels (NG) based on high molecular weight chitosan (HCS) crosslinked with sodium tripolyphosphate (TPP). Resveratrol (RSV), a potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory natural bioactive was proposed by us for ocular diseases prevention. Hence, nanoencapsulation in NG would be an optimal strategy for RSV delivery.
