Resumen:
Anticestodal drugs used to treat tapeworm infections may act as either taeniafuges or taeniacides. The former compounds facilitate tapeworm expulsion from the host, whilst the later cause the death of the tapeworm in situ. On the other hand, fasciolosis is the most common and economically important zoonotic disease caused by the liver flukes Fasciola hepatica and/or Fasciola gigantica. The purpose of this Chapter is to provide the pharmacological properties of the most important anticestodal and antitrematodal drugs. Key-words: Anticestodal drugs: Bunamidine, Niclosamide, Praziquantel, Epsiprantel. Antitrematodal drugs: Nitroxynil, Salicylanilides, Clorsulon, Triclabendazole, Diamphenethide.
