Resumen:
The trypanocoidal drugs nifurtimox and benznidazol were tested for their clastogenic action in two systems: a) induction of micronucleated polychromatic erytrocytes in treated mice, and b) induction of chromosomal aberrations in cultures of human lymphocytes. Both drugs were found to induce micronuclei formation in rodents ?in vivo?, as well as chromosomal breaks in human lymphocytes in an ?in vitro? assay. The implications of the use of these drugs in humans is being discussed.
