Ostracodes are one of the most diverse group of living crustaceans,inhabiting marine and non-marine habitats. They are biondicators due to their specific ecological niche. So far, ostracodes species were indetified by their morphology of the calcareous valves. Instraspecific variations of valves morphology is common in ostracods and may lead to misidentifications. This is especially true fro the groups of limnocytherids. To ensure taxonomical consistency, we present here  the soft part anatomy of the most dominant species in the area of Chile and Argentina. In addtion, we analize hier valves with morphometric techniques anl landmark statistics. Our result improve the taxonomical indentication (e. g., Limnocythere rionegroensis) and thus we are able to describe  the ecological opitma for the species. This knowledge is fundamental tor the use of linmnocytherids in paleoecological research
