Resumen:
Fabrication of materials with specific functionalities in efficient three-dimensional architecture is still a great challenge. Metal electrocorrosion/electrodeposition is a viable way of producing unique self-supported 3-D foams with highly porous walls. Because of extremely large specific areas for charge and mass transport in electrochemistry, these materials are important for technological applications in catalysis, fuel cells, batteries, sensors, etc. The potential of 3-D foam structures is very attractive, the key issues for practical applications of these structures still remain, including the control of the micro-structure (such as pore size and wall density) of foam structures for better utilization of internal surfaces.The electrochemical oxidation of small organic molecules has been widely studied due to their potential utilization as fuel in energy conversion system. Methanol molecule is considered ideal for this use because of its availability and easy handling and storage. The aim of this work is to report a surface treatment to improve electrodes behaviour, which compared with an untreated copper and others copper modified electrodes, exhibits a better electrochemical response.
