Controls of litter decomposition across ecosystems and scales in central Argentina

Considering various ecosystems (forest, shrublands, grasslands), at different scales (local to regional), plant litter decomposability was not associated to in situ decomposition or nutrient availability. Direct climatic and/or microenvironmental control of decomposition seems to be uncoupled of its indirect control through litter quality and decomposability.
