Resumen:
The diet of the King Cormorant (Phalacrocorax albiventer) was studied in Punta León (Chubut, Argentina) during the breeding season, between October 1991 and February 1992. Regurgitated pellets were collected once a month. The food consisted mainly of benthic fish species. Raneya fluminensis (Ophidiidae) and Triathalassothia argentina (Batracoididae) were the most important prey consumed throughout the breeding season. Engraulis anchoita (Engraulidae) was numerous only during the chick stage. The octopus taxa (Octopus tehuelchus and Eledone massyae) were the next most commonly consumed prey. Other invertebrates (molluscs, polychaetes, crustaceans) accounted for a smaller proportion of the diet.
