Resumen:
A B S T R A C TA decline in calcium intake has been observed to be associatedwith an increase in population weight gain (Davies 2000). Ona population level, a small decrease in body weight could helpreverse the trend of increased weight gain. A systematic reviewfound that calciumsupplementation compared to placebo reducesweight by 0.7 kg (95%CI 0.5 to 1;Onakpoya 2011) in overweightor obese people. Another systematic review found that calciumsupplementation compared to placebo reduces weight by 0.4 kg(CI 0.3 to 1.1) in the general population (Trowman 2006). Severaltrials have been published since these reviews. In our review, wewill include trials with overweight and obese individuals. This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:To assess the effects of calcium supplementation for weight reduction in overweight or obese people.
