Resumen:
Mechanical properties of the composites based on different natural fibers thermoset resins were evalated. Fabrication of the composites was done by means of vacum infusion. Flexral, tension and impact test were performed for the composites. Fire resistant (ASTM D3713), thermal degradation and water absorption was determined. Jute composites show the best results on flexural tests, and the lower impact energy, as a consequence of the strong interphase developed. Flax composites show higher impact energy, due to the existance of effective energy dissipation mechanisms, like "pull out". SEM micrograph confirmed this fact. None of the samples resisted the five seconds of exposition to the flame in the fire resistant test. All of them were completely consumed, and flax composites show the longest burning time.
