Resumen:
An accurate numerical calculation of the ground-state entropyassociated to two- dimensional ±J Ising lattices is presented.Themethod is based on the use of the thermodynamic integrationmethod.Total energy is calculated by means of the Monte Carlomethod. Then the entropy (or degeneracy)of a state of interest isobtained by using thermodynamic integration starting at a knownreference state. Results for small sizes are compared to exactvalues obtained by exhaustive scanning of the entire ground-statemanifold,which serves as a test for the reliability of thesimulation model developed here. The close agreement betweensimulated and exact results for energy and remnant entropysupports the validity of the technique used for describing theproperties of ±J Ising lattices at the fundamentallevel. Finally, the results are extrapolated in order to estimatetendencies for larger systems.
