Resumen:
Since 1993, our group has been dedicated to the study of photocatalytic processes, developing procedures to obtain quantitative reaction kinetic models and reactor scaling-up. The idea is to move from especially designed laboratory experiments to the commercial size apparatus in one step. To achieve this objective, it is necessary to analyze both equipment with rigorous mathematical modeling, involving the solution of the complete radiative transfer equation (RTE). This chapter presents in detail the modeling and scaling-up of a slurry reactor, from laboratory-scale to bench-scale size, for the photocatalytic degradation of a model pollutant: 4-chlorophenol (4-CP, IUPAC name: 4-chlorophenol).
