Resumen:
Metals may accumulate in organisms and affect reproductive success and survival. The presence of heavy metal in water of La Florida has been reported in previous studies. Our objectives were to evaluate the bioaccumulation of lead and cadmium in birds from La Florida and determine if the accumulation patterns differ between organs and species. Metals levels were measured in bone, muscle, liver, gonad and brain of three species of birds with different degrees of fish feeding. Our results show that birds accumulate lead and cadmium and the pattern of accumulation differ between organs and the species.
