The institutionalization of an unconventional practice in the context of an extreme situation such as the deprivation of liberty is examined. To this end, the authors analyze material collected through observation and in-depth interviews, in the field work carried out between 2008 and 2011, in Unit 25 of evangelical pentecostal management in the Lisandro Olmos Penitentiary Complex, under the Penitentiary Service of the Province of Buenos Aires (Argentina).The results of prison pentecostal governance in terms of coexistence and satisfaction of vital requirements highlight the effectiveness of beliefs and the intervention of religious mediators as emotional, material and social network support that promote, improving intramural life such as future expectations of the inmates.
