Resumen:
This volume, edited by my old friends Miguel De la Guardia and SergioArmenta, on the Quality of Air can be considered as a follow-up of volume70 edited by Patricia Forbes on Monitoring of Air Pollutants: Sampling,Sample Preparation and Analytical Techniques. As I wrote at Patricia?spreface, this new book reinforces our interest to expand analytical chemistryto other fields, such as air quality monitoring. CAC series has now two bookson a challenging threat and health-related problem such as air quality. The volume that you have now in your hands is divided into four mainmodules: atmospheric air framework, analysis of air, real scenarios and legalframework and future perspectives. The first two modules contain 16 chapterson fundamental and horizontal issues on air quality such as pollutants, indoorand outdoor air pollution, passive and active air sampling, sampling preservation, sensors, spectroscopic measurements of gases, volatile and semivolatileorganics and bioaerosols, among others. The third module contains 16chapters with real-world examples from agricultural air quality to cities, home,as well as a comprehensive list of industry types such as pharmaceutical, textile and electronic, among many others. The last module has only twochapters related to policy implications and future perspectives of air pollutionand control. The book offers a comprehensive view of fundamental and technical issuesrelated to air quality in a global context. It is a useful tool for newcomersand practitioners who want to be introduced in this subject matter. The bookcertainly offers a better understanding of the monitoring and management ofair pollution problems at global scale. In this respect, the issue of airpollution is brought to the public?s attention. Impacts on human health, eitherin outdoor conditions or at the different indoor locations of the industries, can create media interest and pressure for government as well as private sectorresponses.
