Amino grafted SBA-15 mesoporous silica as reusable catalyst for the mild chemoselective acylation of amines

Amines are efficiently acylated with anhydrides using amino grafted SBA-15 mesoporous silica as reusable catalyst. Reactions proceed with very good to excellent yield under mild conditions, using toluene as the solvent.   The catalyst was easily re-used without appreciable loss of its activity. Chemoselective acylation of amines in the presence of alcohols, phenol and thiols have been achieved with high selectivity.
