MnOx was prepared by the oxidation of MnCO3 and its catalytic activity was analysed in the complete oxidation of ethanol. The solid obtained was characterised by in situ X -Ray Diffraction, in situ DRIFTS spectroscopy. By XRD analysis the formation of Mn2O3 (bixbyite) and amorphous solid were found. The DRIFTS spectroscopy indicated the presence of both γMnO2 and Mn2O3. The catalytic activity of MnOx depends, on the one hand, on the solid formed and on the other hand, on the catalyst pre-treatment.
