Resumen:
Metals may accumulate in organisms and affect reproductive success and survival. The presence of heavy metals in the water of La Florida has been reported previously. Our objectives were to evaluate the bioaccumulation of lead and cadmium in birds from La Florida and to determine if the accumulation patterns differed between organs and species. Metals levels were measured in bone, muscle, liver, gonad and brain of three species of birds with different degrees of fish feeding. Our results show that birds do accumulate lead and cadmium and that the pattern of accumulation differs between organs and the species.
