Resumen:
La Florida is an artificial lake, located in the central zone of San Luis province, which is contaminated with organochlorine compounds (OC). Shallow waters, close to the lake shore, and associated temporary ponds constitute reproductive habitats for eight amphibian species. The aim of this study was to determine OC levels in amphibians from La Florida. Amphibians trapped on the shores were homogenized and extracted. After clean up, quantification was performed by Gas Chromatography with Electron Capture Detector. Average concentrations of OC ranged from 9.76 to 2.3 ng/g wet mass. Differences between species were significant. Amphibians collected from the more contaminated shore had lower OC levels than amphibians from the less contaminated shore. Levels detected were below those that produce deleterious effects in laboratory exposures.
